Advocating for the LGBT Community in all Residential Real Estate Mattters.
Commitment, passion and dedication to changing what was perceived as social injustice and prejudice was the drive that encouraged Jeff Hammerberg to create GayRealEstate.com, a service to the US / International LGBT Community.
During the 1990s, Jeff worked in residential real estate, and observed first hand the "quiet homophobia" that pervaded the industry, silently but effectively hampering the lives of LGBT consumers nationwide by placing barriers between them and home ownership. Early in the 1990's, with little more than foresight, a strategy and zealous fortitude, Jeff broke away from the traditional real estate community to create the first virtual real estate marketplace for LGBT clients.
Beginning with HomeLounge.com, an Internet Company dedicated to assisting home buyers and sellers in the United States, Jeff gradually added services and sites, while adhering to a strict personal commitment to donate proceeds from his businesses directly into the LGBT community.
By 2004, he had created www.LesbianHomes.com, www.GayRealEstatePanet.com, and www.GayMortgageLoans.com, which are all ground-breaking companies in terms of concept and adherence.
Jeff developed the mortgage site, for example, to enable his clients to obtain financing, after experiencing no response from many of the premier mortgage companies in the United States, he sought out other avenues of approach. "I was continually shot down by national lenders while trying to secure a lender that could service our clients in every city in America," Jeff explains. However, 2004 proved to be a significant year with www.GayMortgageLoans.com expanding into a database of more than 150 lenders that stretched from coast to coast, all ager to serve LGBT consumer with financing options in every American city.
Jeff's initial vision became achievement upon launching www.GayRealEstate.com, a global real estate services company with markets beyond the borders of the USA, and beyond the imagination of most conventional real estate firms.
The group of GayRealEstate.com companies today exceeds 875 individual real estate related websites, catering to the LGBT community!
Hammerberg is proud of the fact that he donates 5% of gross revenues to the LGBT community, while most corporations in America donate 1 or 2 percent of their net income. "We are well on our way to closing over a deal per day! We have donated thousands of dollars to hundreds of organizations, including HRC (Human Rights Campaign), GLAAD, Lambda Legal, National Gay and Lesbian Task Force, Dozens of AIDS organizations, Breast Cancer Organizations, Gay choir's, Gay Theatre, and others" says Hammerberg, "2008 was our best year ever, but this is just the beginning!"
