By Jeff Adolph Residential Improvements Evidentially 1,400 acres of industrial land within several Louisville neighborhoods is designated for housing and business developments that will shape the future of the area. Improvements to date are being made in order to open the area up and make it more accessible to local traffic, these include: 1) An $80 million Interstate 65 exit; 2) Conversion of Kentucky and Breckenridge Streets into a two-way traffic thoroughfare between Eight Street and I-65, at a cost of $3 million; 3) Opening Kentucky Street to traffic, at a cost of $5,000; and 4) Building a rail crossing at Cardinal Boulevard to improve access at a cost of $2 million. Overall, City Planning aims to make the area more attractive by connecting neighborhoods and creating more green space. The City's lead consultant, Ryan Bouma said,"The $300,000 master plan aims to look at ways to stimulate job creation and to redefine and reposition a substantial corridor within metro Louisville that can have a dramatic effect from a quality of life standpoint."
