Residential Real Estate
Remote locations are not everyone's idea of fun, in fact most of us prefer having shops and convenience stores close by and enjoy the company of others, along with the bright lights of the city. However, there are some of us who prefer to be surrounded by nature, and wish to escape from the hustle and bustle of urban out-crops to partake in the serenity and solitude of running a ranch, or fishing on the lakes Alaska.
Some homes in remote locations are luxurious, others are homely, warm and accommodating, and some are not even accessible by car. Take for example a rustic lake-side cabin in Alaska that is only accessible by plane, or snowmobile in winter, or jet boat in the summer.
Isolated residences can include recreational and equestrian properties, ranches, lodges, and bed and breakfasts, as well as cabins and waterfront properties, and islands.
Homes in remote locations can be priced from $40,000 up to hundreds of millions of dollars depending on how well the property is developed, its size and features, and whether or not it can be operated as a business.
While living in remote locations is not for the faint hearted, it does come with a multitude of benefits, such as:
- Connecting with Nature - if you enjoy being at one with nature, are an animal activist, or just simply love waking up to the sound of birds rather than the hum of traffic, then living off the highway may be for you;
- Cheaper Living Costs - land taxes and other government fees and charges are often less because you receive little or no services, and often you will rely on your own resources rather than the counties.
- Learning to be Self-sufficient - many people who move to remote areas learn to become self-sufficient by growing and making their own foods, hunting and fishing and learning new skills that enables them to repair and build their own property.
- No Commuting - simple living, or residing on a property that generates income means that you do not have to travel for hours in traffic to make ends meet, in fact you may simply have to saddle up your horse, or jump in the seat of your tractor to be considered at work;
- Healthier, Cleaner Living - you honestly cannot beat the fresh, clean air of country living, and you will often find that those illnesses that plagued you will disappear over time.
